How to order our PVC Stair Railing Panels

If you’ve come far enough to read this blog, we sincerely hope you’ve been able to understand the beauty and benefits of our weather-resistant  / rot free PVC panels! We’ve been so excited about the expansion of our products for The Porch Store. We’re constantly in design / R&D mode and that has always been one of our favorite processes at The Porch Company. We love to innovate!

Our PVC porch panels have had some great success. I mean come on… a man who lives in Hawaii happened to be in Nashville and stopped by to look at our panels and even gave us a free bag of authentic Hawaiian macadamia nuts. Not only were the nuts delicious, but he placed an order for our branches panels! We love to see customers that are as excited as we are about this product.

Now, enough excited jibber jabber. We knew the next step was to design these panels to fit stairs. We now have our PVC Stair Railing Panels available for sale on our store. We have three available angles for you to choose from: 30, 32 and 34 degrees. Not sure what the angle is of your stairs? Check out our other blog on stair railing terminology.

If your stair angle does not match any of those provided, no problem! We can design a custom stair panel for you for a one time additional fee of $100.00.

Our stair panels are 6’ long. They can be cut if a shorter width is needed, but they can be no longer than 6’. This means there will need to be a newel post every 6’. This also matches the length of our deckorators graspable hand rails.

The height of our stair panels is 24”, resulting in a 32-36” tall rail.

Just like our regular PVC panels, the designs can be mixed and matched or you can simply match a stair railing to your porch or deck railing, like shown below:

And don’t forget to keep checking back for new products! I’ve heard something about swing beds and PVC gates on the horizon…

Detached Screened Porch + Carport = Backyard Perfection

When we first met these homeowners in the Green Hills area of Nashville, their outdoor living area sat on a hill side. They had an existing pool that creatively worked within the hillside. They wanted a porch to sit above the pool’s elevation so they could overlook the pool from the comfort of their spacious new porch.

Working creatively with their space, we decided to build a freestanding detached porch above their existing parking area. This was a great solution for maximizing their available backyard space. As you can see from this picture, they had an existing pool creatively terraced into their yard. Our porch placement continued the creative use of space allowing for a remote backyard oasis.

Looking below, you can see how we created a carport by building the detached porch above the parking area.

The image below is a view of the porch looking at it from the home at the bottom of the hill. You can see the terraced pool and the large elegant screen porch that rests at an even a higher elevation.

Walking from the pool to the screened porch, you are welcomed by a grand set of flared stairs flanked by a beautiful iron railing. You’ll notice that the risers are painted white which keeps the stairs from looking like a deck. The entire porch uses our Southern Cross railing style. The doors are stained brown for an intentional welcoming contrast. When we move inside you’ll see the same light and airy feel with some fun dark contrasting architectural elements. These provide not only visual interest but also a peaceful, restful sort of look.

The picture below shows the way the contrasting white paint and brown stain work with each other. The cross beams and floor are both stained brown. Also, the swing bed uses stained natural wood. The railing panels, beams, and ceiling are all white opening up the space and making it peaceful and inviting.

Speaking of inviting, take a look at this porch swing! This swing bed includes a double sized mattress – truly a double bed. Whether for reading, taking an afternoon nap, curled up with a throw and a beverage, or rocking listening to the wind blow or rain fall, this swing will become as treasured as your porch.

Inspecting all the beautiful elements of this porch, you may not have noticed just how large it is. Take another look at the image above. Many porches can fit one living area such as seating or eating. Some can fit two such areas. This gigantic porch includes a seating area, the swing bed area, and also a 5-person table which you see to the right of the picture above. Not only do you have your choice of which space to enjoy, other family members or guests can enjoy different spaces at the same time. Perhaps the kids are playing a game at the table while the adults are sitting and relaxing. Perhaps your resident book worm is catching up on a favorite book on the porch swing while some family members sip after dinner drinks in one of the other areas.

Regardless of your favorite spot on this porch, you can look up and enjoy the beautiful vaulted ceiling created by the hip roof. On the cross beams, you’ll see our signature treatment of the lights aimed toward the ceiling. This allows the light to reflect off the ceiling and cast a gentle glow back down. The open rafter ceiling is painted white.
