The Front Porch - Southern Style
Front porches are generally a small, formal affair: a place to pass through, but never to linger. Not this porch. It is oversized to accommodate plenty of comfortable seating.
The Outdoor Room
Believe it or not, this is a screened porch. The couch - by the way - its weather proof. The dining table is made from 3" thick poplar slabs that have been waxed and polished to keep its warmth and beauty despite the outdoor air and sweaty glasses of iced tea...
The Wrap Around
Rarely are we requested to build a porch wrapped around a Hackberry tree, but this tree is so old and beautiful and so visually important to the site, that the owners have gone to great lengths to preserve the tree... so there was no question that the porch would have to accommodate the tree with its limbs winding through the widow's walk railing on the roof.
